I'm really excited, as I am creating a new blog and website! This above will be the front page. There are all sorts of sections (portfolio, about me, pricing, etc).

I'm also changing the name from "Beauty of the Mundane Photography" to "Transparent Life Photography".

This is the explanation why:

"As I began to think through who I am and what I do, I began to think about authenticity.

Authenticity, in my own personal life, is very important. I believe that we must be real with ourselves and our community. In my photography, I want to be real too. I want to be transparent not only with my family and close friends, but with my clients as well. That is where the word 'transparent' comes from.

Life is an amazing thing. What is even more amazing, is the chance to catch a small glimpse of it through a picture. A picture can reveal much about a person's life. It can reveal pure happiness and it can also show much pain and tragic loss. Emotions flow out of pictures and I get to capture that all on camera. That's why I am a 'life'style photographer. I enjoy life. And I want people to remember special moments with their children, with their new spouse or just an ordinary day with their family. It is important.

So that is who I am.

A transparent person, who enjoys life and wants to show the beauty of yours."

Babies - Jacob

While I was on my trip in Arizon about 4 weeks ago now (wow - has time flown by that quickly?!), I was able to snag a few pictures of some friends baby who is the most beautiful baby. I love this boy. I held him every chance I could get. :)

I was able to snag a few pictures from their other kids, but this is mostly all Jacob! :) These friends are very dear to me. I loved getting to know them on our trip and can't wait to meet up with them again. Enjoy!

I couldn't decide if I liked the black and white one better than the color, so I posted them both. :)

Once again, I couldn't choose between these two, so I posted them both again. :)

Random - Objects

I have taken many pictures I've never been able to post or take time to look at. Today, I had a little spare time so I took a trip and took pictures there and then came home and edited them. Now I'm able to put them online! My husband is hanging out with his friends, so I am able to relax and edit pictures!

Anyways - some of these pictures are from our trip to Disney World last year, and some are from today when I drove to Ft Worth.

Hope you enjoy. I really enjoy taking pictures like this. It's refreshing. I don't think it replaces taking pictures of actual people though. I really enjoy that ten times more. :)

Families - The Riddle Family

This is SUCH a gorgeous family! I loved working with them. I have known them now for two years and we met at our church when we first started doing our Community Group. They hold such a special place in my heart.

They randomly contacted me not too long ago about doing a family portrait of all of them. I loved the idea and this is what came of it. Enjoy!!

I loved these next two so much, I couldn't choose between the black and white or the color. So I posted both! :)

This one was one of my favorites of the shoot with all of them together. I LOVE the light and everyone's expressions!

The Pound (AKA CrossFit Plano) Murph Challenge

This was a lot of fun to shoot.

The Pound, or CrossFit Plano, does a challenge each Memorial Day weekend called, "The Memorial Day Murph Challenge." My husband and I regularly attend this gym and thoroughly enjoy it. If you are living in the North Dallas/Richardson/Plano area, you should really check it out. It's great.

This was the workout:

That is the full blown Murph. You can, of course, scale it down to the 1/2 Murph or even the 1/4 Murph. I've done the 1/2 before with a green band for the pull ups and then knee push ups. It's a LOT of fun. :)

So Troy asked me to do the photos for this event. Here are a few of my favorites. Enjoy!

I was so proud of this girl, Rachel, as she did the entire Murph! And, on top of that, she was the only female to do the entire Murph. Great job Rachel!

Community Group

So I haven't posted many personal things on here lately, simply because I haven't had the time. Sad day, I know. :)

Well, a few weeks ago, the group at my church that my hubs and I consistently meet with transitioned from being a "Foundation Group" to a "Community Group." This is an exciting, but bittersweet time, as we had to say goodbye to the leaders of our group who have really helped us all in so many ways. But, at the same time, our group is officially standing on its own legs and we can decide what we want to cover and really grow together as we lead each other. I think it's going to be very good for us all. :)

Well, in saying all of that, to end this season of our group, we had a BBQ! I snapped a few photos. Unfortunately I didn't get to take one of everything, but I thought I'd throw up a few!

This boy is getting so big!! I can't believe it! You probably recognize him from his little portrait session I did a few months ago.

I love this picture of Julia!! It was kind of funny...I looked at her and said, wow, the lighting is awesome! Can I snag a picture of ya! She of course didn't mind and so I posed her and everything. Julia your gorgeous!

This was also Josh's birthday whenever we met. One of the other couples got him a b-day cake! It was SO good too! They brought it all the way from Longview!

Aaron and Cheli: Engagement

Aaron and Cheli were so fun to hang out with! They constantly were smiling, laughing and having a good time with each other. It was SO easy to photograph them for that reason.

I hope you enjoy the pictures as much as I did taking them and editing. In fact, as I was editing I smiled pretty much the entire time. It makes me joyful that I can share in on such a beautiful part of life with other people!

Meet Jerry and Mary. They are SUCH a beautiful couple. I thoroughly enjoyed hanging out with them - I think we laughed more than anything, which makes for great pictures! I actually work in the ministry next to Mary's and that's how I've been able to get to know her over the past 6 months. I hope you can see how much fun we had in these pictures. Enjoy! I met Nathan at a CARES trade show at my friend's complex. Right off, from the moment I met him, I could tell that he was a very interesting person and was very excited to photograph him. We set up a time and here's what came of it!

He is a banker with Bank of America and enjoys the arts and loves the city of Dallas. He was such a pleasure to get to know and to spend that time with. Thanks Nathan for letting me photograph you!

2008 - Christmas

FINALLY I can load these on here! :) Right before I jumped in the shower I got my computer to load the pictures I had edited earlier this week. These pictures are fun, so enjoy!

This is Josh's grandparent's dog, "Gurly."

This is Josh's grandparent's - Norm and Kathy - or as we call them, Papa and Gram. :)

They live right off the greenbelt (it's there backyard, literally) and it's gorgeous. It makes a very nice afternoon walk.

Gram and I decided to make carmel apples - yeah! These pictures were taken with much laughter...I think we did more laughing than creating these apples - which were tasty, by the way!

I didn't know this, but before you can even dip the apple in the carmel, you have to melt the wax off of the apple!! Crazy..!

Mmmmmmm....

OK - story behind this picture!! We ran out of apples, but still had tons of carmel left, so we were looking around the kitchen looking for things to cover with carmel. We thought - Oh! Carmel covered bananas - yum! So...this is the picture of her putting the stick in the banana...it was HILLARIOUS!! haha..it makes me laugh now!

This is a little blury, but I couldn't help but put it up because it makes me laugh every time I see it!

Yeah...that doesn't look like a banana really...it did taste good, though!

I love her expressions to gifts! She was so excited about this one. It's basically a wreath made out of corks, with plastic grapes adhesed to the bottom. She LOVED it!

This is the "Annual Cuban Christmas Eve Dinner Party" Josh and I always go to with this family. This is just the appetizers. Crazy...I know.

The men that cooked the huge pig. It is huge. And oh so good.

This was the main course - basically, pig, yuca, black beans and rice, tamales, and cheesey mashed potatoe's. It's probably one of my favorite meals of all time.

Falling a Bit Behind..

This is the story of my life!

I have tons of pictures that I am wanting to put up for Christmas, New Years and a wedding I went to. I was hoping to have them up by this week, but the chances of that are looking a little slim.

Hopefully I will surprise myself! :)

In the meantime, check out some amazing work to the left of the page. There is an entire list of them. Some of them are extreme professionals, and some of them are aspiring to be professionals or just like to take pictures. Anyhow, some of these photographers really inspire me. I think I spend at least an hour or more looking at their pictures every day and filling my mind with tons of ideas. It's true, that if you really want to be good at something, you have to study it, work hard at it, and not be afraid to fail or look stupid doing it. I've gotten the "studying" part down, and the working hard, and the "looking stupid" I'm working on. Hopefully I will be just as good as some of these folks one day.

Anyways, I digress - stay tuned and will have some photos soon!

Hammon's CARES Christmas Party!

So last night was pretty exciting. I was invited over by Elizabeth to do their pictures for their CARES Christmas Party. I set up an area to do pictures and this is what I came up with:

Thanksgiving 2008

This past Thanksgiving was such a blast! We first spent time with Josh's family and then time with my family. I unfortunately did not bring my camera (out of all things!!!) to any of Josh's events, so I don't have any pictures at all of his family. I do, however, have some of mine. Check 'em out!'

We had to have some kind of snacks for the way to Houston! :) hehe

I call this one "the holy couple." haha...to explain...Holly was trying to find a particular scripture and Steve was helping her. It looked kind of funny with both of their Bibles out.

One of the best parts of Thanksgiving is all the food. Yum!

THIS was hillarious! Poor Allison was ambushed the entire time about her past love, Barney. When she was little she had millions of stuffed Barney's, and one in particular, well, was a little more loved than the others. That's all I will say, but we picked at her the entire time and we had so many belly laughs. That is another thing I love about the holiday's - tons of laughter. :)

Ahh..yes...guitar hero. :)

This is not photoshopped, believe it or not. My sister told me how to do this with my camera. It gives pretty cool results, if you ask me.

What Filters Can Do...

So I have been taking pictures that I have recently taken (or at least taken this summer and sooner) and playing around with them a bit more. It's been fun. I have been experimenting with filters and frames and so forth. This is a little of what I've come up with.

This was used with a grain filter. I liked how it turned out.

This was a sepia filter.

This is a black and white to a colored center filter. I really liked it.

This is the pic I took without any filters.

My lovely husband! This is the original picture without any filters.

This is with a ambiance (?) filter. I forgot the name of the filter. I liked it though. :)

This one makes Josh look really detailed and tough. I like it a lot.

This is just a lighting filter. I really like the darkened edges.

And this one, is the lighting filter with a black border.

And so, that's what I have been playing around with.

Foundation Camping Trip (May 2008)

My foundation group and I went on a camping trip. It was a blast! So much that I fell down the stairs and broke my toe! :/ That was the only bad part of the trip...spending Sunday morning in the ER with Josh and another guy named Marshall. I am so thankful for Marshall for being willing to patiently wait for me while Josh and I talked with the doctor and got x-rays.

Serving The Community

Watermark Community Church, about a month ago, went into the community and helped in many ways. We went to schools and cleaned the classrooms, we went to parks, non-prof organizations and the like. It was such a fun time. My community group all went to the same school and helped out. It was a blast. Here are some of the pictures from the event.

Meet my NEW Niece: Haelee Annette Conrad!!

She was born on this past Tuesday. She weighed 8 lbs and 8 ounces, and was 19 inches long.

I'm so excited that I have a niece now! :)

Playing with Shutter Speed

I have still so much to learn about my DSLR camera and I really haven't taken the time to do so lately with trying to finish up school this semester and with looking for jobs, but when I do have the time (or when I decide to procrastinate) I have so much fun.

Today, or rather tonight, my husband and I were sitting in our study and I was inspired to try something with my camera and here is what came out of it. We had some fun!

Last week my aunt died and it was a very sad time, and still is sad. I am so thankful though that she knew the Lord. What hope there is in that!

Before going to the funeral, Josh and I spent time with his family in Kingwood, TX and I shot a few shots around the area, as well as shots of the family. I also shot a few with my family in Louisiana where the funeral was at. Enjoy!

Okay, so I have slacked at posting pictures on here. But, very soon (like this weekend), I hope to post some from a wedding I was in. It was a lot of fun.

The semester has begun and it's been challenging, but, not crazy.

Also, I am going to have to take a hiatus from the photography class. I am still printing off all of the pdf's, but I will be behind because school takes precedence right now. I'm hoping though, since the change of jobs and having more time I will be able to complete my school work in a timely fashion and return to doing things that really give me joy.

Photography Lessons

So I have decided to take basic photography lessons. I planned on doing this (and wanted to) even before I got my camera, but since I have my camera, my lack of understanding on many things are beginning to show, and I feel that these lessons will help.

The lessons I'm taking are on a website called: http://twopeasinabucket.kaboos e.com/. The lessons are located here.

With each lesson is a challenge. I decided to go outside today and shoot a few things. It was fun, however, I don't feel as if I got very clear shots as I could have. Tomorrow is a new day however! :)

This weeks challenge is Aperture. They are trying to teach the difference between f/stops. The basic definition, from my understanding, is that the f/stop determines how much of your picture is in focus. The smaller the aperture, the less light allowed and vice versa. F/1.4 would be a wide open aperture on most high-end lenses and f/22 would be a virtually closed aperture. So the challenge is to take a picture from an open aperture to a higher. Here are my pictures:

I charge $100.00/session (bridal, portrait, engagement, etc). **(prices are subject to change)

That includes:

-1-2 hours of coverage, shot on location (if you have a preference, please let me know)
-A CD of all pictures from session with limited rights (Meaning that you can’t sell the photos)
-Additional prints, product books and other products will be at an extra charge.

Christmas Time

This is my little sister. Isn't she gorgeous?

Fortunately, my little sister doesn't mind posing for me!!!

This is my mom's banana split cake. Before she added the nuts, I took a picture of them waiting to be tossed over the cake in the background.

There is me. Josh took some (he took more than just "some") pictures with my camera.

It's a family tradition of mine that we play some sort of game after lunch/dinner. Most of the time we play dominos, specifically, Amtrak. It's fun! We get very competitive.

There is my goofy husband with his "fat" domino. We call this domino the fatso because it's worth 18 points. That's a lot to get stuck with.

And last but not least, my lovely guitar. I thought, why not take some pictures of it?

The Beauty of the Mundane

I have recently developed a love for photography. I can't explain it. It makes me jump for joy inside.

I decided to name the blog "The Beauty of the Mundane" because I felt that there are so many things in life we take as ordinary, but in actuality, they are truly remarkable.

I was telling my husband just the other day how I take the greatest joy in looking at things and seeing how beautifully God created them. Everything to me has the mark of the creator on it. Why not praise God for his creation?

In saying all of that, I have created this blog to post pictures that I take. I will take the time to upload some pictures soon.
